Herpes zoster is an eruptional cutaneous disease characterized with acute, unilateral, one or several dermatomal distributions of painful vesicles and papules on the erythematous ground which occurs after reactivation of the latent varicella zoster virus that remains dormant in the dorsal root ganglia. It can occur at any age but it is commonly seen among elderly people and immunocompromised individuals. Herpes zoster in infancy is very rare. The most frequent cause in immunocompetent infants is intrauterine exposure to varicella zoster virus.

Here we report the case of a 7- month-old healthy boy who developed herpes zoster after postnatally acquired primary varicella infection.
