Objective: Remarkable progress has been made in the surgical treatment of capral tunnel syndrome recently. Popularity of endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques has been increased in particular. The aim of this study was to present the short-term outcomes of patients undertaken median nerve decompression surgery with palmar mini-incision using carpal tunnel knife with light (Blade-X®, Mavera Medical Devices, Ankara, Turkey).

Material and Method: A total of 50 patients who were operated by using carpal tunnel knife, were retrospectively evaluated. Among those, 40 were female and 10 were male. Five patients had bilateral capral tunnel syndrome. Mean age was 59.75 (33-81 y). Mean duration of follow-up was 11,2 months (6-18 m). Preoperative clinical diagnosis was confirmed via electroneuromyography in all patients. Surgery was performed under local anest-hesia without tourniquet with minimal palmar incision. Simple bandage was performed postoperatively and no immobilization was performed.

Results: Mean duration of operation was 13 minutes (10-17 min). No complication was observed in any of the patients. Patients were able to use their hands for self-care after a mean of 7 days (5-13 d). Mean time to get back to work was 25 days (18-35 d) for those who are employed. All patients were satisfied except two patients experiencing scar pain.

Conclusion: The most remarkable outcome of this minimally invasive method was rapid usage of the hands postoperatively and the functional reco-very observed in the short-term.
