Objective: In this study, we aimed to retrospectively investigate of acute intoxication cases in State Hospital.

Material and Method: One hundered and eighty seven patients who were being treated due to acute poisoning at the intensive care unit in State Hospital between the years 2017-2018 were included in the study. The age and sex of the patients, drug they used for poisoning, number of days they stayed in ICU, discharge and referral conditions, application time, prognosis and distributions of the patients per months of a year were evaluated.

Results: Of the total 187 patients, 126 were female, 61 were male and the mean age was 33,1 ± 14,4 years. We have identified drugs as the most common cause of poisoning. The most common drug group was antidepressants (n = 40) with a rate of 21,4%. The second reason was food poisoning. In 84% of the patients, the cause of the poisoning was found to be suicide. Only 1 patient has died.

Conclusion: It is concluded that poisoning with a drug is the most widespread reason of the intoxication cases and it is observed mostly in cases with the purpose of suicide to be taken more than one type of medicine. It is considered that the severity and the reason of the poisoning during the clinical progress of the intoxication cases is crucial.
