To date several agents have been used for wound healing. In this study collagen patch and topical honey was used for wound healing and their efficacy was comperatively investigated.

A total of 50 rats were used in this study and on two sites of vertebral column experimental wounding was performed by punching. The wound were randomly divided to three groups. Collagen patch was applied to the first group and honey was applied to the second group while only sterile cotton patc was applied to the third group for control. W ound area measurements were performed macroscopically, epithelization and progression of granulation tissue were measured microscopically.

The second group had significantly faster wound area narrowing with thicker granulation tissue compared to other groups. (p<0.05). Group I had signifıcantly faster epithelization and thicker granulation tissue compared to group III ( p<0.05).

Wound healing was completed in day 11, 12 and 14 in honey applied, collagen applied and cotton patch applied groups, respectively.
