Objective: All equipment and personnel used in the healthcare field during the COVID-19 pandemic may need to be used for the isolation, diagnosis and treatment of pandemic patients. So we think that there may have been some delays in surgical treatment in the oncological patient group during the pandemic period. For this reason, we aimed to compare the demographic and clinicopathological characteristics of patients who were operated with the diagnosis of breast cancer before and during the pandemic in our center.

Material and Method: The study was retrospectively designed at Eskisehir Osmangazi University Hospital General Surgery Clinic. Demographic and clinicopathological data of all patients who were operated for breast cancer 9 months before and 9 months after the declaration of the pandemic were retrospectively analyzed and compared statistically.

Results: A total of 186 patients were included in the study. In the pandemic group, patients who received neoadjuvant therapy were found to be statistically significantly higher (p =0.005%) (Table 1). In addition, tumor stage and tumor size were compared between the groups we used to detect delays in treatment, and no statistically significant difference was found (p =0.724, p =0.233) (Table 1).

Conclusion: In our study, although it was expected that there would be signs of advanced disease in patients who were operated during the covid period due to the delay in surgical treatment in breast cancer patients, no statistically significant difference was found. We think that the reason why our oncological breast surgery results are similar to previous results is our multidisciplinary treatment approach in breast cancer cases.
