Objective: Prostatic calcifications are encountered in middle and advanced ages, and the rate of calcification increases with increasing age. Our aim was to determine the prevalence of prostatic calcifications among different age groups.

Material and Method: The CT images of male patients who were admitted to Elazig Fethi Sekin City Hospital due to various complaints between August 2019 and January 2021 and who had lower abdominal computed tomography scan were reviewed retrospectively and patients with prostatic calcification were recorded. Results were evaluated using statistical methods.

Results: The age of the patients ranged between 15-93 years with the mean age of 45.60±15.78 years, and the overall prevalence of prostatic calcifi-cation was 26.6%. According to the groups, the rate of prostatic calcification was 3.9% between 15-24 years of age, 12.3% between 25-34 years of age, 23.2% between 35-44 years of age, 32.1% between 45-54 years of age, 39.7% between 55-64 years of age, 43.2% between 65-74 years of age, and 53.1% in patients 75 years and older. The prevalence of prostatic calcification increased with age (p<0.001).

Conclusion: Since prostatic calcifications do not cause any symptoms, they are often detected by imaging methods performed for another reason. They usually do not require treatment, their prevalence varies according to age groups, and their prevalence increases as the age of the individual increases.
