Objective: TKR of parameters such as age, gender, BMI (Body Mass Index) when determining the indication of total knee replacement to patients. The question of how much role it plays in the (Kellegren-Lawrence) Indication of the VAS (Visual Analog Scala) and WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Units Osteoarthritis Index) is the main purpose of our study.

Material and Method: The study included patients with a diagnosis of gonarthrosis who applied to our clinic between January and July 2020, with prosthesis applied (prosthesis group n: 34) and without prosthesis (gonarthrosis group n:60). Sociodemographic and clinical data of the prosthesis and gonarthrosis groups were recorded. Kellegren-Lawrence (K-L), BMI, VAS, WOMAC criteria were evaluated.

Results: BMI and VAS showed a significant correlation (r: 0.205 p: 0.048). WOMAC was significantly correlated with VAS (r: 0.687 p: 0.00). BMI, WOMAC, VAS and K-L scores were significantly higher in the prosthesis group than in the gonarthrosis group. The regression analysis; in the gonarthrosis group, the K-L stage was higher in advanced elderly patients. The high values of VAS and WOMAC in patients with high K-L stage were found to be statistically significant (p <0.001). In the prosthesis group, advanced K-L stages and heights in VAS and WOMAC scores were found to be statistically significant (p =0.03 p <0.001).

Conclusion: In our study; BMI, WOMAC, VAS and K-L values of our patients who underwent TKR have worse results compared to the gonarthrosis group. Our findings suggests that it is effective in functional scoring as well as radiological findings when deciding to have prosthesis surgery.
