Objective: We evaluated the results of arthroscopic reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament ruptures using autogenous Hamstring tendon autograft.

Materials and Methods: We evaluated 76 patients undergo arthroscopic reconstruction of ACL tears whom are treated surgically between years 2006 − 2008 in Fırat University Hospital Department of Orthopaedics Clinics. All patients were evaluated with Lysholm knee score, IKDC (International Knee Documentation Committee) score for functional evaluation, range of motion of the joint, stability tests, thigh atropy measurements and subjective satisfaction for clinical evaluation, at the end of the postoperative 20,5 (14 – 27) month.

Results: The Lysholm scores were good and excellent for 46 patients (% 88,5) and the IKDC scores were grade A or B in 47 patients (% 90,4 ) and grade C in 7 patients (% 9,6). Radiographic examination showed mild (nine patients) or moderate (two patients) degenerative changes in the knee joint. Compared with the normal side, no flexion or extension losses occurred in the affected knees. Subjective satisfaction of the patients was noted as 7,5.

Conclusion: We conclude that arthroscopic reconstructions of anterior cruciate ligament with use of a four strand Hamstring tendon autograft which revealed successful functional results and also provided high personal satisfaction, is a reliable technique in the surgical treatment of anterior cruciate ligament ruptures.
