Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the effectiveness of various physiotherapy programmes of low back pain on; pain, muscle strength, endurance and quality of life.

Material and Method: The subjects were 40 women from the ages between 18 and 65, diagnosed with low back pain according to clinical and radiological results. Subjects were divided into two groups by simple randomization. Subjects\' socio-demographic data were recorded. All subjects were evaluated for muscle strength (manual muscle test), muscle endurance (Curl-up, Modify Sorenson Test), pain severity (VAS), functional level (Oswestry Disability Index) and quality of life (SF-36). Groups were assessed before and after treatment. The first group was treated with hotpack, ultrasound, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), and endurance training 5 days a week for 2 weeks (10 sessions), then 3 days a week for 4 weeks with PNF exercise and endurance training only. The second group was treated with hotpack, ultrasound, and PNF exercise 5 days a week for 2 weeks (10 sessions), then 3 days a week for 4 weeks with PNF exercise only.

Results: After treatment; pain severity, muscle strength, trunk endurance, functional disability and SF-36 improvements were observed for both groups (p<0.05). When the groups were compared no significant difference was found (p>0.05).

Conclusion: This study shows that both of these two physiotherapy programs are effective in terms of decreasing pain, increasing range of motion, flexibility, muscle strength, trunk endurance, functional capacity, and improving quality of life.
