Acute abdominal pain can be caused by a wide variety of etiologies that require surgical intervention. Omental infarction is a rare painful pediatric condition that mimics appendicitis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, diverticulitis, and cholecystitis. Our patient was admitted with abdominal pain and lack of appetite. A physical examination revealed epigastric and right upper abdominal pain and voluntary guarding. Laboratory results showed increased leukocyte counts and CRP. Increased echogenicity consistent with inflammation was found using ultrasonography, and increased density consistent with focal inflammation was found using computed tomography. A partial omentectomy was performed by surgery. The patient was discharged with full recovery on the 4th postoperative day. The incidence of omental infarction is low and it is rarely evaluated in children. It should be considered in the prediagnosis of acute abdominal pain.
