Recurrent or periodic fever is a fairly common complaint in daily pediatric practice. PFAPA syndrome is characterized by abrupt onset of high fever, aphtous stomatitis, pharyngitis and cervical lymphadenopathy. This syndrome, which usually observed under 5 years of age and common in boys, has a benign course. There is no consensus on treatment options; steroid therapy or tonsillectomy. We herewith discussed why and how we considered the diagnosis of PFAPA syndrome in a 26 months-old girl who was previously treated in different health-care centers for the complaint of recurrent high fever. ©2006, Fırat Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi
