Objectives: Behçet’s disease is a chronic, recurrent, and inflammatory disorder. Although its etiology is unknown, it has been suggested that a variety of alterations in the homeostasis of the immunologic system may play a role in its pathogenesis. From this point of view, in this study, we aimed to research some autoantibodies in Behçet’s patients with inactive and active stages of the disease.
Materials and Methods: Autoantibodies; c-ANCA and p-ANCA were searched with ELISA and ANA, AMA, LKM-1,ASMA with indirect immunofluorescence test (IFA) on peripheral blood samples of a population comprising a total of 20 Behçet’s patients (13 females and 7 males) one half of which known as having active disease, and of a healthy control group of 20 individuals consisting of 12 females and 8 males. ASO and CRP values were studied with using nephelometry. Results and Conclusion: Although ASO values of the patients were found to be significantly higher compared to that of controls (p<0.001) the levels of each of group in normal range. There is no difference CRP level (p>0.05). All autoantibodies were found to be negative, but ASMA positivity was determined in only two patients.©2006, Fırat Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi |
